Wednesday will be slightly warmer, in the mid to upper 70s across the state, with the chance for a few peeks of sunshine in the afternoon.

Wednesday will be the last 70-degree day for a while, with temperatures soaring into the 90s on Thursday. With this heat comes the chance for severe thunderstorms Thursday evening. The Storm Prediction Center has issued a level 2 out of 5 risk of severe thunderstorms across the western third of the state. Timing is still uncertain, but the chance for strong winds, hail, and lightning is increasing.

As astronomical summer begins on Friday, so will a pattern change. This weekend is looking to be the best in about a month, with temperatures in the 80s and 90s, although there is a chance of showers and thunderstorms Saturday night into Sunday morning.

A "heat dome" will build in across the eastern seaboard, early next week. This is expected to bring the first heatwave of the year, and record challenging temperatures, to the region.
