
A man who was struck by a vehicle on Route 8 in Naugatuck after he was involved in an unrelated crash has died, according to state police.
State police said a 2012 Mercedes Benz was stopped in the right shoulder of Route 8 South near exit 26 just before 2 p.m. after a collision and a driver in a 2020 Ford F-450 Super Duty lost control, spun, then hit the traffic barrier in the median.

The driver then struck 45-year-old Jimmy Bedard, of Wolcott, another pedestrian and Bedard’s car, according to state police.
Bedard died at the scene, state police said.

The other pedestrian, a 46-year-old Shelton woman, had minor injuries and was taken to Waterbury Hospital, according to police.
